ARSENAL agreed to transfer Leandro Trossard after Brighton's acceptance of £27million offer

The world cup star who is 28- years old is set to under go a medical examination after agreeing personal terms with the premier league leaders.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has moved quickly to reinforce his squad after months of negotiations for Mudryk were wrecked by Chelsea’s £88m swoop for the Shakhtar Donetsk winger. And he is convinced that Trossard can be a cut-price alternative to help his title contenders over the line.

Official talks with Brighton were only opened this week but progressed rapidly when it became clear that the south coast club were ready to sell this season’s seven-goal top scorer. Trossard only had six months of Amex contract to run and although Brighton had the option to extend that deal for a further 12 months, they decided to cash in on a player who had fallen out with new boss Roberto De Zerbi. While Arsenal’s initial offer of £20m was rejected, they came straight back with an improved offer which matched Brighton’s valuation. It is understood that Arsenal are paying a guaranteed £21m plus a further £6m in easily achievable bonus payments which include Champions League qualification. The fast conclusion of the deal was promoted by Arsenal’s determination to get the signing over the line before any of their Premier League rivals could come in with a counter offer. After Chelsea had chosen Mudryk over Trossard, they were aware of Tottenham’s interest in Trossard and did not want to leave the door open by needlessly dragging out the negotiations.
