PEP GUARDIOLA: “I’m the man responsible. When the players don’t play well, it’s because there is something wrong in my decisions and I have to find it.
We admit in a tough game vs. United, we behaved more than well. We didn’t win but that happens. The performance, way we played vs Leeds and Chelsea, we're not far away but we're a team. I learned in my time as a manager, player, that I'm not alone in this world. When a team loses a game, it’s like everything is not good. This is not the case, there are other teams that are good too, and we have to accept it. When we lose it’s a tendency to say we didn’t run or fight, but always I believe there is a tactical reason that doesn’t help. In our game, one or two missed positions that are not correct and we struggle. We are not a team that plays man to man. It will be easy for me to say, ‘Guys you don’t run’, but they want it. They want to perform well. Sometimes maybe I didn’t choose properly the players. It is a challenge I like because it makes me feel I have to find something to make the team play better.”“Our standards make people say, ‘What happened at Man City if they're not top?’ This isn't a problem. Accept, try be better, work out what we have to do. It’s not about mentality because you see the games against United or Chelsea where we behaved really well. It’s good to have a fully fit squad. They have to compete [among] themselves for the benefit of the team, find the best solution. We know each other well - many years. Myself, staff, players. I know them perfectly when they are performing well and doing well. I want to fight for all titles and in the PL there are 60 points left to play and many tough games for everyone. We are going to fight, but we can lose. People understand that in the last six or seven years we're the seventh team for net spend in this country.”
“When I die, people will talk about how good Pep was. But since we're here, people expect we perform well and try to win games otherwise: ‘Pep out’. I want to stay at Man City and for that I have to win games, be there in all competitions.”
