BARCELONA FC have confirmed that Marcos Alonso has signed a one-year contract extension with the Catalan giants.
The defender moved to Barcelona in the summer from Chelsea on a one-year deal but will now stay for a second season at the Camp Nou. Marcos Alonso arrived at the club on September 2 and made his debut just eight days later in the 4-0 win at Cádiz in the league. Wearing number 17, he came on at left back in the 78th minute. It was from that same position that he scored his first goal for the team in the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen.
Having demonstrated his ability in defense and especially to slot into the Barcelona system with such elegance, he started playing at center back, and it was from there that he added a second goal to his account. That was a powerful header in the derby with Espanyol at Spotify Camp Nou that ended 1-1.
With two goals in 19 games so far, he has already collected his first trophy at Barcelona, the Spanish Super Cup won in Saudi Arabia.
